ABR-SIDEWINDER

Most caravans or camper trailer batteries are 12V, here we look at how to join batteries in a 12V system.

The 2 pictures below show how to join 12V or 6V batteries to produce 12V DC.

Note: When joining 12V batteries the amp capacity is increased but when joining 6V batteries only the voltage increases but not the amp capacity.

For example:

2x 12V 100 a/h batteries will give you 200 a/h at 12V

2x 6V 100 a/h batteries will give you 100 a/h at 12V

Note: 12V batteries are wired in parallel - 6V batteries are wired in series. Study the drawings below very carefully and note the polarity of the batteries.
